Rams RB Jackson unable to practice.

Rams RB Jackson unable to practice. St Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson did not practice Thursday, putting his availabilty in serious doubt for Sundays game at San Francisco.

Jackson, who has a strained right quadriceps, was on the sideline for the start of the Rams practice Thursday and after a few minutes went inside, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on its website.

The injury apparently did not respond well after Jackson took about half the reps in Wednesdays practice.

Steven didnt work today, Rams coach Jim Haslett said. I would probably say hes questionable to doubtful for the game. Well see what happens.

Jackson has 525 rushing yards, 259 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season.

Jackson injured the quad October 19 in a 34-14 win at Dallas. He then missed the Rams Week Eight loss at New England.

Jackson returned for the 34-13 loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals, but managed only 17 yards on seven carries.

He was also inactive last weekends 47-13 drubbing at the New York Jets.

Kenneth Darby started in Jacksons place against the Jets.

If Jackson cant go, backup Antonio Pittman will get the start on Sunday at San Francisco. Pittman has been limited by a right hamstring pull but said hes feeling much better.

Yeah, Pittman will be the starter and Darby and Travis (Minor) will be the other two (running backs), Haslett said.
