National Basketball Association Capsules for Monday.
SAN ANTONIO 94, MEMPHIS 81

MEMPHIS, Tennessee George Hill scored 20 points and Roger Mason added 18 to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 94-81 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Tim Duncan had 14 points and Manu Ginobili added 12 in his season debut for the Spurs (7-6), who won for the fifth time in six games and moved above .500 for the first time this season.

Ginobili had not played this season before Monday as he was recovering from offseason ankle surgery. The Spurs are still without Tony Parker, who has missed the last seven games with a high-ankle sprain.

Rookie O.J. Mayo scored 26 points for the Grizzlies, who have lost seven of eight.

CHICAGO 101, UTAH 100

SALT LAKE CITY Few teams get even one chance to beat the Utah Jazz at home. The Chicago Bulls got two on Monday night – and with their second chance, they did the nearly impossible.

After Derrick Roses game-winning attempt clanked off the rim, Larry Hughes grabbed the rebound, stepped up and buried the game-winning 18-footer to deal the Jazz their first home loss of the season, 101-100.

Utah had won 14 straight and 33 of 34 regular-season games at EnergySolutions Arena – but were up against it on Monday facing a red-hot rookie in Rose, who poured in 25 points and dished out nine assists. The Jazz once again were without their own star point guard, as Deron Williams missed his 13th game with a sprained left ankle that he suffered, fittingly, in the preseason when he landed awkwardly on Roses foot.

The final three minutes went back-and-forth, with the lead changing hands 10 times in that span. With the Bulls leading, 99-98, with 14 seconds left, Mehmet Okur misfired on a 3-point attempt, but Ronnie Brewer grabbed the rebound and dished to C.J. Miles, who dropped in the go-ahead layup.

Rose calmly ran it up the floor on the other end and took the shot himself, but it was Hughes that played the hero. The 6-5 swingman finished with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

Okur led Utah with 26 points while Paul Millsap added 21 and 10 boards before fouling out.

ORLANDO 108, MILWAUKEE 101

ORLANDO, Florida Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu may be starting to put it together.

The frontcourt duo – which has been struggling with its shot for most of the season – found its stride to lead the Orlando Magic to a 108-101 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The two scored 22 points apiece, hitting a combined four 3-pointers as the Magic rebounded from Saturdays loss to Houston to win for the sixth time in seven game.

It was a welcome recovery for Turkoglu, who was out with the flu on Saturday and was even less productive on the previous night when he went 1-for-13 in a win over Indiana.

With less than a minute to play, Luc Richard Mbah a Moutes three-point play and Richard Jeffersons short jumper pulled the Bucks to within three at 103-100, but that is as close as they could get the rest of the way.

All-Star center Dwight Howard provided a huge lift after battling early foul trouble, collecting 24 points, 13 boards and six blocks despite turning the ball over six times. He imposed his will in the lane – especially after Milwaukee center Andrew Bogut left the game in the third with a bruised knee – but shot just 10-of-20 from the free-throw line.

HOUSTON 107, MIAMI 98

MIAMI Yao Ming scored 28 points and Ron Artest added 20 as the surging Houston Rockets posted a 107-98 victory over the Miami Heat on Monday.

Yao added 12 rebounds and Luis Scola chipped in 11 points and 13 rebounds for Houston, who has won five of their last six games.

Miami (7-7) was unable to get an encore performance from Dwyane Wade, who scored 38 points in a win over Indiana on Saturday. Wade scored 23 points on 7-of-22 shooting.

Heat rookie Mario Chalmers also scored 23 points and six assists. Chalmers knocked down five 3-pointers.

CHARLOTTE 93, PHILADELPHIA 84

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina Rookie D.J. Augustin recorded his first double-double and led the hot-shooting Charlotte Bobcats to a 93-84 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Charlotte shot 55 percent (34-of-62) from the floor and topped the 90-point mark for the first time in five games. The Bobcats had been at the bottom of the league in both field goal percentage and scoring.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Bobcats.

Augustin scored 13 of his game-high 25 points in the pivotal third quarter while Raymond Felton added seven of his 22 points.

The 76ers were led by Elton Brands 18 points and also got 17 from Andre Igoudala.

PORTLAND 91, SACRAMENTO 90

PORTLAND, Oregon Brandon Roy scored nine of his 28 points over the last 5:09 to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 91-90 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

After the Kings took an 84-78 lead with 5:33 remaining, Roy scored seven straight points to put the Trail Blazers back on top. LaMarcus Aldridge added a layup to push the lead to 87-84 and Sacramento could not recover.

Portland won despite shooting 40 percent (34-of-84) from the floor and committing 20 turnovers.

John Salmons led the way with 20 points and Beno Udrih added 17 and eight assists before fouling out in the final minute for the Kings, who have lost six of seven.

NEW ORLEANS 99, LA CLIPPERS 87

LOS ANGELES David West poured in 27 points to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 99-87 victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.

West was one of five Hornets to score in double figures against the Clippers and Chris Paul recorded his sixth career triple-double with 14 points, 17 assists and 10 rebounds.

The loss spoiled rookie Eric Gordons performance. In his first start of the season, the guard scored a career-high 25 points and made 4-of-8 3-pointers.

The Clippers were without new teammates Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins for the third consecutive game. The two, who were traded from the New York Knicks for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas last Friday, are not able to play until all of the players have passed their physicals.

In the fourth quarter, Gordon pulled the Clippers to within 86-80 on a 3-pointer, but West hit two consecutive jumpers to build the lead back to 10 as the Hornets cruised to their third straight win.
