Bills injuries mount against Buccaneers

The injuries mounted fast for the Buffalo Bills, who had two players – right tackle Brad Butler and tight end Derek Schouman – carted off the field with knee injuries against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Add to that, starting cornerback Leodis McKelvin didnt return after hurting his ankle, while rookie tight end Shawn Nelson strained his shoulder during a 33-20 win in Buffalos home opener.

Coach Dick Jauron declined to provide an update except to say all four players will be evaluated after having further tests. The Bills (1-1) host New Orleans next weekend.

Butler did not return after hurting his right knee late in the first half. Thats when Buccaneers defensive lineman Stylez White rolled into the back of Butlers legs while attempting to strip the ball from quarterback Trent Edwards. Butler was unable to put much weight on his right leg as he was helped off the field by Bills trainers, before being carted away from the sideline.

Jonathan Scott took over in Butlers place.

Schouman was carted off the field after twisting his right knee while being tackled after making a 6-yard catch with a minute left in the third quarter.

Schouman said hes knees a little swollen. Schoumans injury left Buffalo with one tight end, Derek Fine, after Nelson left the game in the first half with a strained shoulder.

McKelvin didnt return after he was spotted limping off the field after Carnell Williams scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass to cut Buffalos lead to 20-14 with 27 seconds left in the first half.
