NFL officials and the NFL Players Association can at least agree on one thing: Tuesdays bargaining session went well.

The two sides hope to negotiate a new labor deal after the NFL opted out of the collective bargaining agreement last year. The contract wont expire until after the 2010 season.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith believes owners opted out because they want to lock out players in 2011. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell contends the owners want to play.

The NFLPA released a statement calling Tuesdays meeting good. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello called it positive and said the league looked forward to more constructive discussions in the future.

The NFLPA says another meeting is expected in the coming weeks.
