The Super Bowl odds are up and with less than a week to go, everyone wants to know who is going to win the NFL Championship this year. Here are 10 reasons why the Saints will win it:

10. Experienced Secondary

The New Orleans Saints have a clear edge in experience in the secondary, which should be very important. While the Colts are very raw at their two starting cornerback sports, the Saints have far more experience. Safeties Darren Sharper and Roman Harper were selected to the Pro Bowl while Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter have more experience than the Colts starting tandem.

In a contest that is expected to be a passer’s shootout, experience in the secondary will make a difference.

9. Dwight Freeney’s Injured Ankle

Recent reports have surfaced that Dwight Freeney has a slight tear in a tendon in his ankle, which could have a bigger than expected impact on the game. Freeney could have a slight sprain but ESPN is reporting that it may be difficult for him to even suit up for this contest. If that’s the case, the Saints – and left tackle Jermon Bushrod – will catch a huge break. This will also along the Saints to double-team the Colts other Pro Bowl end, Robert Mathis.

8. The Saints Are America’s New Team

While the Dallas Cowboys have won just one playoff game since 1996, they have relinquished the title of America’s Team to the New Orleans Saints. After Hurricane Katrina, the Saints were pretty much all that the city of New Orleans had. They have been the model of hope for New Orleans and a lot of Americans from around the country have a feeling of admiration towards them.

It’s hard not to cheer for them this Sunday.

7. Defensive Coordinator, Gregg Williams

The Saints defense was deplorable last year and while there have been some personnel changes this year, the biggest change came on the sidelines. The hiring of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has allowed the Saints to be more aggressive than anyone else in the NFL. Not many people give Sean Payton credit as a smart NFL head coach but he is already among the best. He makes bold calls on offense, exudes confidence and always seems to be in control of the contest. When he challenges a play, he’s generally got a fairly good reason to and Saints fans don’t often scratch their head with many decisions he makes. That’s a large reason why the Saints are in the Super Bowl.

3. Better Running Game

Although it may surprise you, the Saints have the sixth-ranked rushing offense in the NFL. Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell ran the ball effectively for the Saints this year and really gave this offense balance so that the Saints didn’t have to throw for 5000-plus yards again.

The Colts rushing offense is ranked last in the NFL and of all the stats between the two teams, sportsbook odds makers know this could be the one where there is the biggest disparity between them.

2. Better Turnover Margin

Turnovers are the ultimate equalizer in the NFL and the Saints know this just about as good as anyone this year. The Saints were second in the NFL with 39 takeaways and overall, they finished with a +11 turnover ratio.

Considering how close the Colts and Saints are, turnovers could very well prove to be the difference on Super Bowl Sunday.

1. No. 1 Offense In The NFL

For all the praise that the Indianapolis Colts receive for their offense, it was in fact the Saints that had the top-ranked unit in the NFL.

The Saints were the No. 1 unit in the NFL in terms of yards and were the only offense to average more than 400 yards per game (403.8). The Saints were also the only team in the NFL to average more than 30 points per game (31.9).

Both offenses are high-powered but the Saints had the best statistical unit.
